Pasta ripiene and Pasta

Noodles are one of the oldest dishes made from  durum wheat.
In China already well known during the time of the Han-Dynastie ( 206 BC untill 220) the italian name „Pasta“ has ist’s roots in latin and greek language. A groats dish made of wheat was called  pasté. In the anciant Rome  noodels have been very popular, as the geografer Al-Idrisi wrote in 12. Century people made thin filaments of wheat near Palermo in Sicily. The area around Naples has been a center of noodles production because of the very clear and dry air which was perfect to dry the pasta. Nowdays only a few of this small traditional manufactories (pastifici) have been left in Italy. Most of noodles are produced in a industrial way. But in our Trattoria Casa Azzurri we serve fresh homemade pasta in the real traditional italian style. Come in and try our pasta.
